Just to scare you before your exam,
Are you able to define and give examples of:
-Data fusion and cleaning
-Building metadata
-Excess Data
-Believability
-Thin Client
-System Audit
-Pointers
-Intelligent Agent
-Hashed Data file
-Breadth-first search
-Dithering
Really not makin this up, you should know it!
Data fusion and cleaning: Involved in data warehousing, Using the data that was collected from a variety of source, this process deals with the different formats and errors contatined within the data.
Excess Data- Data mining problem, over analysing data. If you anaylse information for long enough you can find evidence to prove just about anything.
Thin Client: A PC with no disk drives. U?ses the network file server to store software and data.
System Audit: Compares a systems performance to its original objectives.
Pointers: Data values that store the location of other data values. Used in databases.
Intelligent Agent: A software application that can be used to perform a task independently, without the requirement of a network.
Hashed Data File: Uses the key field value to calclulate a storage location for every record. Its a way of locationg empy storage spaces.
Breadth first search: Looks across knowledge base at one level before progressing [easier to understand if u do SDD]
Dithering: Used with images, Reduces the bit depth in an iimage and sometimes uses fewer colours to reduce size for transmission.
