I'm doing The Tempest as my set text is it ok to use The Rime Of the Ancient Mariner BY IRON MAIDEN as a related text even though the actual poem itself is a set text???
(Sorry if this seems a silli question It is just that my teacher won't give me a straight answer)
Thanks xxx

i can't see why it would be a problem, if the text of the song is different to the poem. surely they can't veto it just cos it has the same name? then where would sequels be!

This is where the line is blurred. Im sure that TECHNICALLY you can use it, but whether you SHOULD is a different matter. Think about it carefully.

Thanks guys. I basically thought that i could use it on the basis of the fact that it is a recognised imaginative journey (due to the real poem being set) but a more modern way as it is the story being explained in 'todays' terms!!!
