If you're referring to the poem I do think it's a good link in a very abstract sense. Although the persona also is 'going away' she is more or less disappearing because she doesn't fit in that well with her surroundings.

With Gow's Away it takes the idea of 'going away' to the idea of a temporary escape from one's problem.

I guess the strongest link would be the poem and then Tom's + Vic and Harry's + Coral and Roy's experiences with the idea of wanting to permanently escape their problems but they can't.
