i want to check it to see if i got a confirmation like you, but now i have no freakin clue coz the email page wont load...keeps getting page error, see for yourself if it works...it should work later tonight though...if it doesnt, serious problem with this uni in general ahaha....

wait a minute, i just noticed platform web wont work either, or mysr, or anything??? thats jus great....
woah take it easy, I got a phone call, I think they might be only doing it in my course.
The systems are not working because of maintenance, have a little patience it'll be ok, show uws a little love and it'll take care of you :hippie:.

EDIT: They are going to send me an email after the results, the phone call was really to get in early before other uni's come and grab the best students away....

hey;

well the systems working now normally, checked email and nothing lol

perhaps i have to wait till after results come in to make sure

i dont think ill make it coz i seriously screwed up, and i heard its average mark of 65 from 2nd and 3rd yr overall, so if my wam mark goes below, say 63 or 64, do u think i could still make it in, or not?

and for the rest of you guys, has anyone found a way of accessing the results yet?

thanks.:uhhuh:

You're so close there's no reason to give up hope yet, every course is different though in my course the average mark for honours is set pretty high, for others where the need for honours is less though I imagine it's lower. I'd have a backup option though, don't be afraid to consider alternative pathways.

oh ok, yea, ours is 65 minimum from what i heard, but im concerned ill fall short and might just miss out by 2 or so marks which would be soo crap.

what are the alternative pathways? are you saying if you miss out, you still have another chance to make it in? i sure hope so hehe.

Well I'm not sure what your studying but in psych there's second round offers where they may include units that you argue are relevant but not counted in the first round
(electives) that might bump your marks up. But I was really referring to another direction of study, for instance there is an alternative specialist year for those that miss out on honours in psychology. Also i'm not sure if you can do additional units to bump marks up, I don't know much about that (anyone else?).

As for results, the maths and psych departments had their meetings this week, its only a click of a button to upload now to mysr. But I think they will wait till Monday or even Tuesday to do it.

Aren't the reults coming out a week or so earlier this year, compared to 2008. From memory, results for spring 08 were released around the 17 or 18th December last year.
Btw this semester sucked, anyone doing BBC second year would know. For some reason we decided to be lazy lol.

Yeah, I've heard this as well, that they're using an averaged mark instead of GPA cutoff....would be good for those who've just missed out on D's or HD's in the past.

I'm happy to wait until the 10th this time around...thinking about it makes me feel ill right now.
This average mark, is this concerning honours students only, or all the students.

^ I think it's only concerning honours application students for now. But it wouldn't surprise me if UWS moved to this sort of system instead of a GPA.

^^ Results are released a week earlier this year, on the 10th of December.

I think there are plenty of ill feelings going around this semester.... (good luck tho)

EDIT: for anyone that cares I just got a call confirming that I will be offered a place in honours!!!! :) :) (pending of course I pass my undergrad)
Congrats (and thank you :) )! Do you know what sort of project you'll take for your thesis?

Thanks for the congrats! :p My thesis will be looking at evaluating nonverbal communication between humans and embodied conversational agents, focusing largely on the eyes. :read: I'll conduct some sort of experiment involving first years , the details will get ironed out in the next few weeks.

Results are mostly likely going up today or tomorrow so everyone be on the look out for loopholes.

Thanks ambermorn,
Congrats isjongood,
ah this suspense......
Anyone know if that old trick still works, i mean like getting notification via email that you failed a unit a week before, or the system not allowing you to enroll in a unit if you havent passed a pre-requesite one, i enrolled today and nothing happened:hammer:

The fact is that UWS is a poor university with an even worse reputation. No amount of forum yelling will change that. No person in their right mind would choose UWS over UNSW or USyd (or any Go8), or even Maq and UTS. It attracts the lowest of the lowest.

And yet both myself and a friend scored highly competitive graduate positions (IB) straight after graduating with nothing more than a "poor" UWS degree. Well done troll, you are an embarrassment to society with your bigot, stupid and moronic attitude.
