I'm thinking he either waits in front of Eves room, but falls asleep outside because the dating advice talk took too long (He knows it's her's because there is a sign on the door), OR he goes outside and starts thinking about what to say to eve, and then decides to ask her after bumping into her in the hallway as she tries to go back to her room.
