oWWw, do you have to repeat any of those subjectS?
yeah. all the ones i failed, but i'm only doing one of them next session.

---

i'm on referral. it says the academic standing will be 'confirmed' on july 23 - so my referral will be confirmed on july 23. does this mean my timetable for session 2 will be wiped out til i discuss my 'future enrolment options' with the academic advisor?

seriously worrying me.

Is there any way you can get a concession and not have to repeat a subject?

Failing maths is the worst because I can't do physics 1b which needs it as a corequisite :(
Like others said, try take your case to the lic and let you pass, sit a supp, whatever to get a pass. Depends on the lic and you'd need a pretty good reason for it. If you could have got a PC it would've been given to you already.

This is part of the price of failing (important) subjects; it pushes everything else behind.

Summer/Winter sessions are a great way to catch up
Agreed. Catch up during summer/winter sessions but you need to plan it out; not all subjects are available in those sessions.

if they ask u to show cause failure to adjust to university expectations is an adequate excuse, you'll be fine.

That's a bit harsh.

Most unis have a flexible entry system (eg usyd), a special considerations scheme and of course DFEE places.

pea ess, Easily passed my subjects but not the HDs i was looking for :(

Say you fail a course or two well obliviously your degree wam is gonna fall and be low.

When you re-do a course and then you pass the course on the 2nd go right ... Then what happens to your wam? Do they include the failed and passed mark of the course? Or just the passed mark?

yeah i think thats a good thing most of the time. there are a coupe of problems with it

1. sometimes like this year it was sorta a flexible entry so they are basically picking and choosing who they want. im all for people getting a second chance, but there are heaps of ways to prove you should be at uni, giving someone 5-10 extra marks or special consideration is not always the right way - maybe they should repeat, or maybe they should go to tafe and transfer into uni

2. this is going to sound wanky, but in real life you dont have someone coming along going 'do over'

3. these people who get in still have to be compared to the entire cohort, the majority of whom did get a UAI of at least 95 for last year. all else equal they shouldnt fair well

4. they could be a fee paying student

im not having a dig, im just saying it isnt surprising that it just happens to be an EAS, special consideration, fee paying etc student

Those with lower marks probably don't want to show others?

"Marks in uni isn't the same as marks in high school. If you get a credit...thats great! Credit on you! Distinction? Even better!"
