Scaled marks for subjects?? (1 Viewer)

Hello, I heard that some subjects at Macquarie University gets scaled.... what are the subjects that get scaled?? Anyone know?? Please tell me....
BBA 103?
ECON 110?
STAT 170?
I mean are there any subjects in 100 level where they must fail some people??

by scaled i suppose you mean a higher percentage of people get HD

i mean scaled up to C, D and HD
and scaled down to F, PC and P

I think scaling changes every year....it depends on how well everybody does in your course. If you average 45% for the course but that mark gets you into the top 15% of candidates i think you would be rewarded a HD. In other words scaling is not done according to how hard the subject is.....its done according to how dumb everybody is in comparison to you

By the way i'm not really sure how it works....just having a poke at it.

but, it's true for some subjects that in the harder subjects a higher % of people will get HD, D etc. and a lower will get P or F

Wrong.
Take COMP123 for example. One of the easiest subjects ever. Yet hardly anyone i've heard of gets HD's or even Ds in that subject.

There's scaling involved but it's way different to that of the HSC.

i said some subjects

stat 170 vs stat 171. the guy told me about 1% of stat170 will get HD, and about 10% of stat171.
