Lol. The same thing happens every year.

Year 10 kid: How much should I study?

Year 11 and 12 kids: Dont study

Year 10 kid does not take advice and studys a shitload.

Next year..

Previously year 9, now year 10 kid: How much should I study?

Previously year 10 kid, now in year 11: Don't!
Hahahahahaha...same here, lol.

I studied heaps for english and history. I ended up getting better marks in maths, science and geography over them. lol

Studying nothing = best way to prepare for SC.

Actually, studying nothing + relaxation + not worrying about the future results = best way to prepare for SC.

And so the cycle continues...

Lol. I just think about the SC english question that I did in year 10 where we had to write a speech with the first line "image a day when hope and daring are all we need to build bridges" and a shitty picture of people arranged in the shape of a bridge. Like wtf was that?

I still got a band 6. lol.

Hahahaha... I remember practising writing that as a practice. Waste of time if I think back now.

Get a life

And save your studying for next year and year 12 when your actually going to need it
Agreed.

Year 10 - what a joke. God, I remember the computing skills test where the harest question involved identifying the monitor. Hard shit.

Basically this is my theory on schooling in NSW:
You fail your school certificate... just indicates you'll have to work harder next year. (However, I don't know how anyone can fail the SC, I did no study at all, and I managed to get all Band 5s and 6s - and I don't see myself as that smart).

You fail your HSC and all of a sudden a whole heap of opportunities for your life just go away. In saying that... if you fail your HSC, there will always still be opportunities for you, just not as many - but it's not the end of the world, but since you have a chance, why not try your best in the HSC?

I reckon that's the most worthless exam ever. Almost everyone gets 95+ in the Computing Skills exam.

it's not really worth the time and effort. I didn't even study between my yearlies and school cert and i got decent band 6's for everything. and i only studied for yearlies for the week before.

don't burn yourself out. save it for yr 12.
Same here.
I believe, you should just enjoy Year 10 while it lasts. Start working in Year 11 and it will build up to Year 12. If you full go at it hard in Year 10, I guarantee you will burn out.

Have you seen the past papers for sc ? They are so damn simple.
I'm not saying I'd get 100% but you don't need to study so much for them
SC is a joke .
Doesn't really matter if you don't get perfect marks, scaling is involved also.

In regards to the studying question, the better judge of whether or not you need to study for these exams is how well you perform generally. Let's say if you do anywhere near the state average, you'll do well in the SC. If you're in a selective school, I guarantee you will do no worse than a high band 5 with probably zero study.

One thing I do suggest you practice is creative writing. After sitting the English paper, I was rather disappointed that I had to pull something random out my ass but in the end, the School Certificate is a piece of cake. Revising on the last night is satisfactory and you can achieve B6's just off that.
