Personally any way i read that verse it comes out this way : Behave in 'such and such a manner' if you are a slave.Miles Edgeworth said:Oh so when it's not cut and dried you use an interpretation. . It condones SLAVERY IN NO METAPHORICAL TERMS IT IS A CUT AND DRIED SUPPORT OF SLAVERY
how can it not be cut and dried, anyone with half a brain can understand what that i saying.Miles Edgeworth said:Oh so when it's not cut and dried you use an interpretation. . It condones SLAVERY IN NO METAPHORICAL TERMS IT IS A CUT AND DRIED SUPPORT OF SLAVERY
completely agree. It reads like that no interpretation needed.*TRUE* said:Personally any way i read that verse it comes out this way : Behave in 'such and such a manner' if you are a slave.
I seriously see nothing wrong with it.bodyglove said:wtf do you think is wrong with slavery. use that head of yours.

Think of it. Lesser races doing your dirty work for you.
WHAT THE FUCK COULD BE WRONG WITH THAT?
God was writing his word through humans.Exphate said:Do you believe that the world was (literally) created in sixdays? Friends (Christians mingling with Athiests is scary I know) of mine have differing view. Some take it as the literal "6, 24 hour days) whilst others take an metaphorical interpretation (these friends go to church and have an "active" relationship with God).
Also, on the topic of the bible being the word of God, I have to issues:-
1) Where is the book of Christ? Some scholars believe that one may have existed, others do not. Why would the church supress something like this?
2) God (assuming an existentant being), did not write the bible. Thus, how could it possibly be the word of God? It's (clearly, one would think) a series of different interpretations of what people believe to be encounters with "God".
I'll also take note of the recount of Moses' experience with "God" on Mt Sinai, where it is believed he spoke with God (to recieve the commandments). This article explores the notion (proposed by an Israeli Professor of Cognative Philosophy) that Moses might've been high at the time of said encounter (alledgedly some commonly found plants on Mt Sinai have a hallucinagenic effect).
People continuously drop the "miracle" argument, when many of the things that are alledged to be "miracles" have a logical explanation (note that I said many), and I believe this to be one.
I was baptised (and as discussed elsewhere, doctrinated) a Catholic. Whilst I hold a stance of Agnosticism nowadays, I have yet to official renounce my Catholicism. Am I not a Catholic, even though all my papers say otherwise?
Really the ultimate justice would be to make all gays slaves.Captain Gh3y said:the bible says it

that settles it
lol, it condones slavery and condemns gays, but apparently we need it for all morality
I mean...no. Ridiculous notion.katie tully said:I seriously see nothing wrong with it.

And yes i do believe in the literal word of God, creation and all.
It is saying if you are a slave be obedient so that you are bringing Glory to God.Miles Edgeworth said:Yoke of SLAVERY

SLAVEESSS
Man reading that literally it means that Jesus says "Slaves be good because you are slaves and slaves are awesome"
"You are all my slaves so in this way be slaves"
Yawn. It's condoning slavery. No ifs ands or buts about it.
he is not human.katie tully said:Why?
Doesn't God have two feet and a heart beat?
Can't he write his own shit?
Yeah but he made trees and leaves and people and stuff, so surely he can write???emytaylor164 said:he is not human.
they wouldn't be very good slaveskatie tully said:Really the ultimate justice would be to make all gays slaves.
he could, but who are we to question his methods?katie tully said:Yeah but he made trees and leaves and people and stuff, so surely he can write???
sorry nothing else can be added to the Word of God, says so in revelation.Exphate said:Thus, "God" is writing "his words" through me, as I write this, and I am saying he does not exist.
Oh no! x is an element of P and ~P!
Going back to the "6 Day Creation" argument for a moment, how could this possibly be documented? We don't have a Book of Adam (or Eve for that matter), and as there existed no humans prior to they (alledgedly), how could someone have possibly noted this? Sure, "God" could tell someone this happened, but on the same token (again assuming he did tell people what to write) could "God" not have said 6 days instead of 6 million years?
I still would like to know your thoughts on the issue of Moses on Mt Sinai.
My name is Katie.emytaylor164 said:he could, but who are we to question his methods?
