So, i'm doing first year science at UNCLE and i have a couple of friends doing science at unsw and usyd and it appears their courses are exponentially harder/contain more work

Can any BOSers help me compare the course at the three universities please? (just for my own curiosity)

My work load is about 20 hours a week give or take if labs etc finish early which they usually do
I'm doing 40 units:

Math (year 10-12 general maths... lawl)
Chemistry
Biology
French (elective)

What is the way in which unsw and usyd go about structuring their science courses?

EDIT: for my own curiosity and, I guess, for a bit of a discussion about how there can be such a gap between the quality/rigour of university degrees

Wow... that's insane.

Does advanced science mean you have to do 50 units a semester and get no electives? or does usyd make you do a science as an elective?

I have 4 hours of lectures for bio, no labs
4 hours of maths and a 2 hour tute
3 hours of chem and a 3 hours lab OR 1 hour computer lab
4 hours of french

and that's it.

I guess your uni uses the 10cp system, usyd uses the 6cp system whereby 4 full time subjects are 24 cp, math 1901 and 1902 are both 3cp so they're more like 2 "half" subjects that's why we have so few hours for each one. advanced science doesn't make us take sciences as electives, I'm juggling between 2 sets of majors and need to do these subjects as prerequisites so that I can choose which one I want to go into later.
