Isn't the point of 'The Report' (vs 'The Essay') that you can use whatever formatting you want?

In psych you are meant to attach any tables at the back of the document and put something like 'insert Table 1 about here' in the results. they might not care as much though for business.

Yeah, you just refer to it.. ie "Table 1 shows..." and the typesetters are meant to put table 1 in the spot closest to where it's first referred to.
