i got offered my first preference and now i am having second thoughts. my question is if i change my preferences will my enrolment be in jeopardy.
& how does the late & final round offers actually work.

No, you just change your preferences. Your enrolment won't be in jeopardy. Later round offers work the same way as main round, but you'll only get an offer to a course which has a higher preference than the one which you got. So put what you got as preference 9 and put what you want as number 1, and then re-rank them as normal.

Accept your offer because there is no guarantee that you will get an offer in the following rounds, at least this way you will have your first offer to fall back on if you dont get anything else.
That offer lapses if you dont accept it and you wait until the later round where it is possibly offered to someone else.
