thought the stimulus was quite frankly cliche ('celebrates' what crack were they on?) and didn't leave too much room for NOT belonging.

used the 2nd quote, but mostly went with my prepared story

The two stimuli were annoyingly similar. I ended up kind of doing the first one with an apple allegory, then switching to the second because it was religious themed and I could pull the whole "God loves you just the way you are" line. Hopefully the marker doesn't mind the ambivalence... It was the same story i got 15 for in the trial, I'm just hoping the stimulus relation (or lack thereof) doesn't bring it down.

Overall, pretty impressed...

Did you guys just write the quote at the top of the page or something like "quote 2" ? I was a bit annoyed at the stimulus as whilst I had quite a few elements that related to relationships, it sort of shifted the focus away from the actual theme I was trying to convey in the creative. That being said at least it was a story and not an article or something. Time to expect the worst for modules.

Hmmm.....I was wondering about that too....I was tempted to, but figured it would read well enough for them to see which I was talking about....

Did people give theirs a title?? Mine was Triptych, i wrote from the perspective of three different people at graduation lol, 1 doesnt belong, one does, and the other is an onlooking parent....

Could you talk about relationship with a place? Because I totes just chucked in my memorised creative about the Israel/Palestine conflict.
I don't see why you couldn't. I wrote about a relationship with a place. My story was about time travel and belonging to the Present not the Past or Future. A place in Time basically.

I wrote the quote at the top of the page just to be on the safe side.

....celebrate? I thought I did alright until I came into this thread and saw that the word CELEBRATE was in the question!! *dies*
I did the exact same thing. I can't believe I did not see that. Now I'm unsure if mine even relates to the question. It was a story told from two points of view, in the Nazi era, one component from the view of the Jewish child and one from the view of a kid in the Hitler Youth.

I'm not even sure I covered the relationships bit adequately, it was just basically the Jewish kid had no relationships and was alienated in society (I chucked a few images of a dying plant in there to fit in with the first quote) and the Nazi kid was a member of the Hitler Youth, hence was accepted, went through all the Nazi rituals etc.

God I hope it meets the criteria...

i loved it! i really thought i would have had to adapt my story (a man who gets a job as a comp technician, searching for the right chair... and alas the 70's piece of crap was in the spare room all along) but the second quote, really worked :D

the test, and the layout, seems so modern in comparison to what i have seen from looking at past papers. anyway all the best with your studies. dreading paper 2 ! :spin:

What I want to know is what those people whose creative responses were about NOT BELONGING did in this section, because I'm one of them and I'm unsure if what I did was correct. I just reinforced that my character has no meaningful relationships, and no-one who cares for him, therefore the absence of relationships contributed to his not belonging. Was this right?

There seems to be no ambiguity with the "celebrate relationships" bit which is really frakking annoying because belonging= you can belonging, and not belonging.

There wasn't anything about NOT BELONGING.

Which just sucks balls. Preparing to write an angry blog now...

well my story was about not belonging as well adn yeah i did similar thing - drilled in there was a lack of true relationships etc

but i also added in one character's POV that she thought she was achieveing a relationship/belonging

the stimuli were pretty stupid that they didnt fully allow for not belonging :(

sory to say but yuu majorly stufed up, ur story has nothing to with celebrating a relationship, thats y u gota understand the question n shit. i did a story similar to urs except i had a drug addict who was adicted to heroin, and that was his relationship as he escaped from the world through his addiction, and the heroin took him to places he never throt he ccould go, then a cop arrested him, went to prison n stuf, then became lifelong frends with the cop for saving his life. that is an example of celebrating relationships.

OMG thats what i did!!! this is my story........... btw the things in bold are the ways i used the stimulus!

its about a guy being released from prison after 15 years for murder, except he was innocent and only got convicted because he was in the vicinity of the crime scene at the time it happened... it was mass publicized in the media as well..

anywhoo, he gets out and his all happy because he thinks this is his big chance to rebuild his life the way it was (like a seedling which will be able to grow into a beautiful plant if nurtured properly), yet as the story develops we hear of the consant rejection he suffers: he cant get a job or a house, and all his friends have deserted him

then after he recounts his tale, it brings us to the present, where is a cold, wet evening and his sitting on the wet concrete in the same alleyway where the murder occured 15 years ago. He's got a handful of drugs, he swallows em and curls up and dies ( like a withered rose because it hasnt had enough nutrients)

do you reckon it could work? i just put a lot of emphasis on how alienated and lonely he was, and how he had no relationships....
thats what i get for not reading the question properly :(
