I hated short answer, I would be lucky to get 20/40...hope I made up for it elsewhere in the paper.

IMO, short answer was easy marks because I'd written essays on those topics, expecting the essay to be about environment and labour market but oh we'll, helped me get good marks.
Hoping for 35-40/40 in short answer

Yeah that's basically it, like China's growth decreased so they demanded less of our exports and thus less revenue for us in Australia so we grow less too etc

Yeah I did the same thing expect talked about high growth in Asian economies in recent years resulting in increased investment in the commodities sector which led to an increase in economic growth instead of a contraction that was forecast in 2008.

What did everyone say for that bypass question (1st question)?
Cost: Loss of tourism/business due to traffic not passing through town (impact on local shops and stuff for business)
Benefit: Fewer emissions causing decreased air pollution resulting in a higher quality of life.

Same, the question itself surprised me so much though :p

Cost: short term financial cost for government, time it takes to construct the bypass may screw up traffic when it's being built
Benefit: diverts emissions away from the town so prevents respiratory diseases and stuff as a result of externalities from cars, smoother flow of traffic (reduces congestion)?

I don't know how they'd mark it, because you can say so much, even considering the fact that it didn't ask for economic costs and benefits. So you can write like "people won't get angry" "prevents protests" "gains votes from that town"

lol

Another cost is noise pollution. Another benefit is employment opportunities from building the highway, which is pretty labour intensive.

What positive did people get for the CAD? I only got an inflow of foreign capital to fund projects and achieve profits (which is equally perceivable as a negative).

I said that diverting the highway would reduce the mobility of labor and slow the pace of structural change since those in the town have less means to travel.

Higher living standards in the short term since import expenditure is likely higher -> More consumption in the short term that improves material welfare

I'm PRETTY sure the question was about diverting the highway away from the town. But considering i've slept sub-10 hours in the past month, someone else verify?
