Yep, International Business Strategy
I've got a spare unit next semester, is there anything you'd particularly recommend doing from the Econ and Business faculty?
edit: only done acct/econ/ecmt/finc stuff so far

Marketing can be interesting. Alternatively, do Cross-Cultural Management (IBUS): you'll benefit heaps

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

my life keeps getting easier. i only have one exam.
1) it's open book
2) it's only worth 25%
3) i found out the first three questions for the exam: I have to choose 2/3 of those, and 3/5 of the next ones, so essentially I know 40% of the paper. It's open book, so i can answer them prior to being in the exam room. winrar.

Haha, be thankful that you didn't have to endure a gigantic group project which took about many hours and weeks to complete, and ended up coming to around 70 pages :p

I don't mind closed-book exams worth more, as long as assessments aren't as difficult.

Haha I think it's a case of 'the grass is always greener on the other side'

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

i get the feeling that marketing's mainly a "common sense subject". Am i right?

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

Yes and no. I think marketing operates via the "officious bystander" principle: it has loads of things that seem obvious, but only in retrospect after someone tells you about them.

There are many models that you learn which aren't 'common sense', and even thinking in the right mindframe will require a lot of practice.

Furthermore, many people simply won't 'get' marketing, as their skill set is incompatible with the subject.

Re: Semester 1 Chatter Thread

the only reason projects are better than exams is cos holidays are longer and it's possible to hand in a project without showing up if your friends love you enough.

but srsly, if uni wasnt such a trek and the exams were crammed into less than a week, id prefer them.

hmm marketing. id fail at that subject so bad.
