Is sodium a passivating metal? why and why not? :S

Nope sodium is a highly reactive metal, it is not passivating, because when it oxidates the layer it forms allows it to continue to do so, whereas aluminium when it oxidates it creates an inert oxide layer that prevents furthur oxidation hope that helps
