I know and i heard reading benefits in many ways, i read a few books that i like but I just don't seem to enjoy reading words these days. It's a fact reading gives you more imagination, different experience of text types, vocabulary etc. Is just reading from textbooks, poems, extracts, journals at school enough to be considered as*reading*? I already made a vocabulary of words i don't know in document to have a greater range in vocab.
Then I'm thinking should i take a further step in novels. I have a feeling you guys will criticize me but hey! at least i get answers rather leaving this matter in year 12.
Thanx guyz for reading and taking time really grateful.

The answer is yes, only if you understand what it's talking about.

You can always read the newspaper. I don't have much time for recreational reading, but I always read the paper. I find it more interesting. But I will read novels on the train because train rides are boring without your group of friends to talk to.

You should start reading some novels, as they will be highly beneficial to you in English - being able to use them as supplementary texts in English for the Area of Study.

Or you could just see what novels your school's using and read them before you're studying them so you can develop a strong understanding of the plot, themes, etc.

(i also start reading newspaper since they are quite interesting ^^) I rather lean into reading interesting books like paul jennings very simple, funny and interesting but I need more deeper adult novels. I read about 10 minutes on the train everyday, plus an additional one and a half hours spending time reading the paper. So, I think it's sufficient, but you can do more since you're only in your preliminaries.

As for books, i'll recommend you read My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult. It's really good. Check it out =)

Happy reading! :D

I used to read so much, but nowadays I don't. Guess its poor time management skills. I'll read a book every now and then. But not as much as I used to. Reading is beneficial to the english, like spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. So I guess if you got the time, do some reading as it will benefit you.
