Should Indigenous Australians assimilate into mainstream society?

Indigenous Australian culture is toxic. I think that Indigenous Australians should integrate into mainstream society. Aboriginals should not be given special rights compared to the average Australian. The only Aboriginal I admire is Noel Pearson because he is a conservative. I think every Aboriginal has a right to celebrate Australia day and share in our Western heritage. Aboriginals are the parasites of our society.

I dont really come into contact with aborignals that often, and so cant really make concrete judgement on what I think of them and their culture.

Though with those I have come into contact with, they seemed to have a rather strong inclination to cigarettes and drugs, and had no qualms in issuing expletives and curses to any passer who glanced at them for longer than one second. I once heard a mother say to her son after he almost tipped the baby in its carriage thing, "Watch it ya fuckin dumb cunt, I'll beat the shit out of you if you do that again motherfucker."

However, Sathius005 perspective of suppressing a culture, calling it toxic and saying that they should assimilate into a culture that fucked them up in the first place... really, that's not going to really do the world any favours...

these things are symptomatic of virtually any low socioeconomic demographic, not just Aboriginals. In which case the issue becomes one of how you can increase levels of opportunity, particularly educational, in these areas

or you can take the point that aboriginal culture was functioning before white settlement and post colonization our culture has essentially fucked their culture up the ass (tribal culture with no technological history introduced to concepts of law/order, drugs, money etc). now you act all upset that they haven't adapted to your ideal lifestyle, cry me a river.

+1... The British thought the aboriginals needed "fixing" and "healing", in relation to their lifestyle and culture. They did not acknowledge them as proper human beings but rather more as animals.
