Mmm. But then I've seen people's lives breakdown without them abusing any kind of substance/beverage. Often It's just apart of being human... so you can't always blame pot and I don't think society has the right attitude towards the stuff- it's an attitude of fear which doesn't help people (especially young people) make sensible choices. I used to actually be scared of pot but it still didn't stop me smoking it and my fear was probably more detrimental to my mental health than the actual weed was. I think its society thats screwed alot of people up- not drugs.

That is a good point to argue. Fear is psychological, but uve also got to include what the drug can actually do to a person. Pot has been proven to be the cause of scizophrenia in so many people, and for a family friend it causes her to be in hospital weeks at a time and for her little boy to constantly live without knowing who his mum really was. I detest the stuff, for what it has done to me and other people. Make it legal, fair enough, as long as the government monitors how much a person can have and if the person can suffer the consequences in the long run, go ahead.

Decriminalisation is different, I could understand that, not that I personally support it, however, plain legalisation no. Asquith what should the government do to help addicts, make it more easily accessible?

Give this man a biscuit.

too true.

makes me laugh listening to all these dickheads frontin' like they know what they're talking about like 'yeah, it should be legalised maaaaaaaaan'

marijuana or any drug for that matter should never, ever, ever be legalised.

There is certain legitimate arguments however, for it to be legalised.

Drug laws are VERY tough in NSW. Importation is a max of life in gaol.

as if thats tough.........seen the young lass in the news at the moment?

Australia as a whole is slightly harsh compared to other parts of the world.

but saying thats VERY tough is a joke when compared to laws in certain asian countries.

What do you mean the man on the street? There wouldn't be a man on the street if it was legal because people could buy it safely and cheaply in shops.

i have never heard of anyone dying from using maraijuana- yeh sure smoking it will increase your chances of getting cancer, but so does smoking ciggarettes. As i said in my previous post pot generally only harms the user, in my opinion the govt should not be able to legislate over a person's individual actions that only bring harm to themselves ie. drug taking
It'd be funny when your 50 and got terminal lung/larynx cancer you die a horrible, painful death because your last... yep, deadset LAST on a list of 000,000's of people waiting for transplants.

no, no.

i bet you'd be the person who'd insist you get the transplant over the other poor bastard dying of lung cancer from working all his life breathing dangerous substances (ie- asbestos etc...)

once again i will point to the fact that POT is legal in the ACt and not everyone walks around "stoned off their nut". I am aware that Maraijuana is harmful, but so is alcohol and smoking and yet they remain legal. If adults want to use things that are harmful to thier bodies, then that is thier choice
kid........... you're fucking dreaming.......................

it's not legal man.

i think the prerequisite for ignorance is the blatant and sadly non existant knowledge... especially when you're taking something into your body and you dont know what the fuck its doing to you :)

im sorry, but really, you're so ignorant.... just read up about it before you go saying its so cool and your dad smokes it every morning so that its clearly so awesome
"THC is a very potent chemical compared to other psychoactive drugs. An intravenous (IV) dose of only one milligram (mg) can produce serious mental and psychological effects. Once in your bloodstream, THC typically reaches the brain within seconds after it is inhaled and begins to go to work."

good point.......... but u can't die from it's immediate effects. thats fact.

First of all, heroin isn't nearly as bad as it is made out to be (i would never touch it).

It is nearly identical to morphine.

It's addictive qualities are strong but not everyone will get addicted.

When looking at the problem of heroin, the drug itself shouldn't be the main concern, but the REASON the person is taking the drug.
Yes and no. it's subjective...

Nah, wrong. yes, they ARE both opiods and yes they are related, but not identical by any means.

True.

Yes yes yes. hit nail on head. this is true with ANY drug
