so if you had the choice between the two sets of speakers which would you choose?

Logitech x-540 [basically the x-530 everyone knows with a few small improvements]

so the Z-2300 has far superior sound, but is only 2 speakers[and a bit more expensive, bit we will assume price is no problem here]

the x-540 speakers have great reviews and they are surround sound i havent had surround sound before and i am eager to try it
, but sound quality is not nearly as good. I also currently have the X-230 which are the same speakers as the x-530s but only 2 of them
I dont want to feel like i am getting basically the same as what i allready have

heres what i would be using them for

Movies. i sit on my bed, and watch movies on my monitor. I want to be able to hear dialogue etc easily, hear bass and such from big explosions, you know.
i game heavily[ some FPS, WoW, and DotA]
I listen to music alot, both sitting at my computer or entertaining at my place in general.

which should i get?

but get the z-2300s, i'm getting those, they are fucking epic. about $160 off ebay which is a bargain.

thats ok i am not a very likeable person, makes me curious though.

Is the lack of surround sound worrying to you or you dont really give a shit? they are supposed to have fantastic sound quality though, and i am thinking that might trump it

they do have fantastic sound quality, but then again i'd only use them for music so lack of 5.1 wouldn't be an issue at all. surround speakers also require a lot of messy wiring and you need to work out a suitable place for them all. but if you're mostly using it for movies/gaming, then you may want to get those over the 2300s.

x-540 is shit. dont buy them. i have them. its a glorified 5.1. i wouldn't even call it that. its really a 3.1

with the z-2300..um the sub woofer is fucking massive. just too big for my liking. its fucking huge.

I was gonna get the z-2300, i saw it for $180 on some site, that was cheapest at the time, dunno its price now... get whichever is cheaper, they both seem good.

just a word of warning about the z2300s (which I own)...

the subwoofer is huge and they are really bass centric

also i have a dodgy connection to one of the speakers, so the balance is only 50-50 at certain volumes (probably only my particular speakers though)

sound is fairly decent though... and they go extremely loud
