i am considering it for my first exam, maybe others.

i got a cut on my right (writting) hand and it is slowing me down. should i apply for it?

i got the cut a few days ago and it has impaired my preparation and, more importantly, will impair me in my final.

anyways, share stories. :D

you need something more dramatic.. cos i bet other people are coming in with broken legs, eye damage (all possibly self-inflicted =p)

I hate that around exam time you always get this niggly cold/flu, one that doesn't make you that sick but impairs your study and exam performance. It's hard to study when you're blowing your nose every 2 seconds, but it's not good enough to count as having serious sickness..... cos everyone else has the same thing.

still.if you go to a doctor and ask for a doctors certificate for that on the exam day, i dont think the uni can so no. its just that nobody ever does do it.

True, but can you imagine if everyone did? It's one of those unwritten rules:
Thou shalt not use the common cold or the flu as reasons for special consideration. They'd probably find some way of banning it if we did.

true. but it isnt a common thing :) If any excuse was common than they would probably ban that too.
Anywayz, the flu can still become serious. it might be common, but it is still clearly disadvantaging you in an exam, which is the point of having special considerations. And your saving the marker from having to mark a snot-infested exam paper :)

I've had it [flu] for the past week, constant running nose. Only had one exam but it wasn't that bad, just prior to the day I felt a bit faint.

Then you see these people walking around Uni in short skirts and shorts.

That's good right? Means it might get disgustingly infected and you might get sick from it...TOO sick to do the exam :)

I thought Special consideration had to be applied for before classes ended?

As in last Friday?

Russel Peters is gold, I just finished downloading his whole show. I randomly watch parts of it when I'm stressed.

nah i think special consideration is different to these.... ie special consideration u have an injury for a long time or whatever and need 5 min breaks every hour.. so they plonk ya into a study room in the library with someone supervising ya...
where MC is where unforeseeable circumstances occur and u get to sit a supplementary (i think)

special consideration is a load of crap anyway. my friend had a death in the family which you'd expect to be one of the ultimate reasons for letting someone have it and after forcing her to fill in all these forms and making her see all these people she's now told it does pretty much nothing- if she gets near a pass or whatever they'll let her have it but it doesn't really effectively change her mark and she's not really offered any special help or anything- might be able to sit the exam a couple of days later or something (a supplementary, which is always harder anyway) but since they took this long to even get back to her about that she may as well just sit it since she's spent all this time having to prepare for it anyway cause they wouldn't tell her what's what. i wouldn't put your hopes on it- even if they accept that your work has been hindered it doesn't really do that much anyway

i guess they can argue that unless you're going overseas.. you can sit the exam. i think special consideration is if something prevents you from physically doing the exam as you normally would, like a broken writing hand (which means broken-just-about-anything-else doesn't work).
