is it true that the people who top the state in a subject get 2500 dollars each?
No.

But if you get 94+ in 10 units of study, you'll get $2k from government. A lot of people think that the top 5000 students get it, but this is false. I didn't get it, because Physics was 93, whereas my other subjects all were 96+, whereas someone that got 94 across the board and got a lesser ATAR than me got the $2k.

It's fair enough, though. Not complaining.

speaking of this... anyone ever wondered who this random guy is?

Probably a parent collecting the certificate on behalf of their child. There isn't much notice given to 1st placed students, so there's usually a few parents at the ceremony in place of students who couldnt make it.

how come you received 97 and destiny received 97 and you got 3rd and he got 5th?
Is there a tie for positions?
there is ties for positions, but state ranks come down to DECIMAL POINTS. my 97 was 97.4, which would have become 98 if I had 97.5, so I got rounded down. destinyliang would have had <97.4. the decimal points come from optional question scaling if you're wondering. :)

last year 96 (aligned) was a state rank but other years i think you would need 97

i guess this is a raw of about 88-92? depending on the difficulty of the test

I was joking. But yeah for chem you'd need higher since you aren't first.
I doubt I'll even get close to state rank .... never got above 90 raw mark. O well. I will be happy with 80+ raw mark :)

Me too brudda, but I'm gonna aim for 90%+ in this test just to challenge myself. Even if I get 100% I wouldn't state rank because of my shitty internal!!!
I shall aim too then. The higher the better :)

As if you wouldn't complain! Fantastic effort, though. :)
