Re: Thoughts on recording notes?

I've tried it before, and would personally only use it in combination with studying from hard copy notes/textbooks also. Oh, and if you do choose to record notes, keep them short and to the point - if the track is too long and rambly, you'll stop paying full attention.

Is it really so bad to study from study guides?

Everyone says it's bad to do this, and that study guides are pointless, but for Ancient and Eco, I did no study until two days before, and all I did those two days was read from MacQuarie. I got 86 and 72 respectively, so it wasn't bad, like many say it is.

Study guides should be supplementary to your study. Great for cramming.

I kind of agree with Eco, but considering I only did 1 hours study from the MacQuarie Ancient History study guide and got 86, I think that's pretty good.

I'm usually against the use of Study Guides - but I gotta admit - they've saved my ass so many times.

So basically - if you've got plenty of time before an exam - then yes it is bad to use study guides. If you've got less than 2 weeks before an exam - then there's nothing wrong with study guides.

Some study guides are too minimal in content and information though.

Typed or Written Study notes?

So whats the general consensus
Is there much difference either way?

I have been told that writing up your notes by hand is "more effective" however it takes me so long!
what are you experiences?!

Re: Typed or Written Study notes?

I think it depends on the way you write. I can write pretty fast and my handwriting is relatively neat (I've been told i write like a girl) - so i write my notes. I think the more you write the better practice you'll get for the HSC.

But if you have bad handwriting and/or you write slow - I suggest typing.
