Who is Studying for the SC?

Just wondering, How many people here are actually studying for the SC.

If you are then what times do you study, how long have you been studying for and what subjects are you worried about and what bands your want?

If you are not studying what do you do in your free time?

As for me I'm cramming everything in and I started study last week, now we have a week left and a bit more cramming left. I study about 3-5 hours a day and I'm mostly going over History, Geography and a little bit of science.

I want band 6's but I'll be happy with a band 5 in English.. I don't really like English that much but what can I say?

Not studying much at all..

This is because I've recently been diagnosed with musculoskeletal back problems, and therefore I will be visiting specialists this week and all of next week - I also have to go and see my doctor three times next week.

I've spoken to my teachers and let them know that my performance may not be up to my normal standards, but they've got confidence in me, which is good.

I recently had yearly exams for all my subjects, so hopefully I remember the gist of the information and won't do too badly : |

Besides, I'm not allowed to sit for longer than 30 minutes, and with my back pains at a peak at the moment, I ultimately can't really engage in any constructive study without having to come out every 5-10 minutes and lie on the floor to stretch out my back.

Ohh well - at least thank god this isn't the HSC! And hopefully I will be managing my back problems more effectively by then, anyway.

Finally, I am aiming for all band 6's - I have the internal marks equivalent to all 6's, but now it's just a matter of how much knowledge I have retained in my subjects - let's hope I don't stuff it up now!

Good luck everyone for the SC!

I've been just going on the boardofstudies site and just doing at least 4 multiple tests each day on one particular subject and writing down the mistakes I made after I finish. I'm planning to look over the past papers fully during this weekend for Maths and English and studying all day at the Library, the coming weekend.

Not yet..... But I probably should start soon, shouldn't I? :uhoh:
Boardofstudies.org doesn't help in motivation cos everyone's saying 'oh it's the biggest bludge you'll ever get to have' etc etc........

Any reason why you're picking up 3u english if you know you're going to drop it in year 12?

You dont really need to bother studying for the SC...coz its not important for anything anyway unless you wanna drop out after year 10

Me neither.

I really, really want high band 6's in English and History. I'd be very satisfied with a mid-high band 5 in Geography. Every other subject, couldn't care less. I'll go over the content in History and Geography again next weekend. I didn't do as well in my History trial as I'd hoped, so I'm aiming to do a lot better here.

While everyone says the SC is pointless (I mean, it is, but), I'm actually very interested in seeing how I do compared to the rest of the state. This is the only chance we have to compare our capabilities to the ENTIRE state until the HSC.

Agreed. cept 4 the bludge part. exam and bludge bit of an oxymoron???
Quite frankly...
- My teachers dont give a shit (cept 4 geography) because they all know that 95%+ of the year (including me) are going on until yr 12
- My parents dont give a shit
- I dont give a shit
- Future employer knows it is a joke and wont give a shit

It has no importance to me whatsoeva and i have absolutely no intentions of studying.

but yeah, i'm still aiming for a band 5-6. But couldnt care less if i didnt.
The only people who it should matter to are those who do not wish to continue with yr 11 & 12.

Have you already done your SC? or Did you just put 2009 in by mistake for your HSC year? or are you going to finish your Prelim and HSC in one year?

I've been studying. Started on the monday this week and every night I've been doing a few questions from past papers. I've mostly done questions for History and Geography, and while I do fine in them, I'm still worried. Only because of all the content I think I'm going to forget, and the fact that my teachers are totally useless, lazy buggers. I find that if you do a few things bit by bit, it's much easier and relaxed.

I still need to finish a few notes though, so I'll be doing that this weekend. This whole week, I'm probably going to be doing a few more past papers, mostly for science, history and geography ; I've already done more than enough papers for maths and english and I'm just hoping that'll pull me through. They're both more skill based anyway.

I'm aiming for high band 6s - so 95+ I guess.

I haven't studied anything since trials (2 weeks ago) but we do past papers and revision in class. I'm planning on studying next week and i'm almost positive that it will be more than enough.

Don't panic. You'll be fine. :)
