Thanks! I'm so lazy, I should have done this a lot earlier. But I will have a look for it. Hopefully I should be ok for the exam..

yes lol, if you ever want to write about lesbian porn in an exam this is the one for you
study buddy I have read that story - hold on I might have I don't remember. it depends on what texts you do in class and how well the themes and things tie in; whether you can get quite a cohesive discussion out of it. try out some other chopin stories if you're stuck - I did one of her stories, I don't remember the name now for an assessment task and I couldn't find much - try to analyse it yourself, her stories are simple enough.
regardless of that crap. it was a good two part series...interesting that's all.

everyone also has to remember that the related material they choose relates back to the texts studied in class. i'm doing p&p, N&S and A Dolls House.
So far my only definate related material is The Importance of Being Earnest because you tie that together with P&P. Even though both were made at opposite ends of the 19th Century it's good comparison because they are both essentially satires on their respective societies. hope that helps someone.

Any of the "Wessex Poems" by Thomas Hardy are useful.
They deal with country life/persons
also "A Song Of The Shirt" by Thomas Hood, deals with the poor working class
:)

Hey, so, have both a question and a couple of texts to recommend:

Well, my texts would be - The Awakening [Kate Chopin]
- The Tenant of Wildfell Hall [Anne Bronte]
- Far From The Madding Crowd [Thomas Hardy]

Now, they're what I'm using for my supplementary material. Only, the thing is, they really only reflect the 'social' paradigm of the 19th Century. As such, I was thinking of switching Far From The Madding Crowd with a text that explores the religious paradigm. Specific recommendations, anyone? And it doesn't have to be a novel. Matter of fact, maybe it's best it isn't so that I have some variety to my texts. I'm generally good at analyzing poetry, if that helps?

Thank you!

- 'Hard Times' (Dickens)
- 'Wilde' (MOVIE) Although i am mentally truamatized by watching it, it is good. I think heaps of past HSC people did 'Wilde'. If you can bare watching numerous viewings of homosexuals "getting it on" then this is fine for you.
- 'Picture of Dorian Gray' (Wilde)
- 'Time Machine' (H.G. Wells)
- 'Oliver Twist' (Dickins)

I can't be bothered to check if these have already been posted or not, but:
- the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde; Robert Louis Stevenson.
- Daisy Miller; Henry James.

They're both pretty good, especially since you can download both of them off the internet instead of going out to a library/buying them.

I was just looking at Wikipedia about Vanity Fair and it was saying how the 2004 Film version, with Reese Witherspoon, changes significant bits of the original book and that the end is altered to be more happy and modernised.

But that's okay right? Like I can still use it as a supplementary text right?

remember 'social' paradigm doesnt exist, it has to be religious, scientific, philosophical or economic....
