Now, keeping all that in mind, I saw a heart specialist a month ago as it was compulsary for me to. He said that exercise all together doesn't make that much of a difference in terms of weight loss. He said that you have to RUN (not jog) around 15km in order to lose 1kg of weight (in which case most will be fluid). So the real way to lose weight, according to him, is just to eat right.
I find that exercise does help though. Obviously it expends some calories so keep at it. As you become fitter you naturally burn off more fat calories anyhow. So that's an incentive to exercise

Just diet properly - not too many carbs and you should be right.
EDIT: Re: OP - like many people have said, a mix of various types of exercises is a good idea. You also wont get bored
