Is it bad to write economics notes with the syllabus? I've always been obsessed with the syllabus and write notes accordingly for most my subjects. However, some people say the syllabus is too outdated...

It is very beneficial to write notes by syllabus point. I also like to use the syllabus 'students learn to' as literal broad practice questions

Yep, write to the syllabus.

Then give a couple practice papers a go. You'll have a better feel for things that are commonly tested, and be able to cut some things out and add others. The goal is to be able to condense them under big concepts, eg globalisation, inflation, BOP etc.
