I have been having trouble logging onto the page to register for my tutorials and laboratories and today I finally found out what was wrong. My firewall was not allowing me to connect to the page! Why couldn't they tell me that?! Now I have to change my timetable around to bad times!

If you have a program like Norton Security or Zone Alarm running, you might want to disable it.

Exactly, I have Norton Internet Security and just disable that before you log onto the page.

with my student mail, i notice when i hover over compose or reply or whatever, it says something about javascript
ive never downloaded this...i dunno what it is...is it possible that thats why i cant send messages? do i need to download it or something?

Yeah, it is a program that some other programs need to use to run, so you might want to download it. Where is our student mail and what do you use it for?

its at : studentmail.newcastle.edu.au
you need your student number and password to log on,,, and when you log on,, makre sure you put the c in front of your student number. to find out what your address is just send a message to another email address. but its usually set out as :
firstname.lastname@studenmail.newcastle.edu.au

coz i just went to download it and it was going to take like 5 hrs...
