I searched up that the temperature was around 300 degrees celcius for hydration but my teacher put a question mark next to it so now I'm unsure of it. I've tried searching for the temperature needed for hydration, no luck. So now I turn to you guys. What is the temperature needed for dehydration and hydration?

You don't need to know the temperature, you just need to know the catalyst used and why it is used :)

PS: lol, I didn't read your thread, I thought it was hydration of ethene and dehydration of ethanol ...

IIRC from Jacaranda, 350C for dehydration of ethanol and 300C for hydration of ethene.

Yaa it is the hydration and dehydration of ethanol, sorry that I didn't specify. Also, are you sure about that because my teacher told me that I needed to research it too.

Depends on the catalyst used.

For H3PO4 acid catalysts, hydration uses 300C and dehydration uses 350C.
For H2SO4 acid catalysts, hydration uses ~170C and dehydration uses 350C.

Generally, you should be safe to say that hydration is 300C and dehydration is 350C for ALL catalysts.

300 for both hydration and dehydration but the sulfuric acid catalyst is diluted in hydration while it is concentrated in dehydration
