Can somebody please explain to me how to write a really good feature article?? Im praying that they dont throw this text type :(
throw in heaps of emotive, persuasive language. have a title. start ur feature article with an eye-catching opening that kind of sucks the reader in.
basically a feature article is pretty attractive in its writing.

I think it'll either be essays all round with cunt questions, or simple questions with cunt text types.

I'd go for the latter, honestly. Lesser of two evils imo.

QFT can be quoted for truth, quite fucking true or quit fucking talking.

The third is kinda out of sync with the other 2 =P

Just be careful to not get overtly carried away with the freedom a speech can give you.

My in-class one for King Lear went something like "White, boring and useless...King Lear has been argued to be all these things...."

Needless to say, I was flamed. :bomb:

I don't think the BOS is going to give us a letter either. They did in 2001/2002 and people kept signing their own names at the end of the letter.

I wouldn't DO the question if it was a play. SKIP (and never come back)!

Well, there goes 1/3 of my paper down the effing drain. LOL

Im definitely thinking one non-essay and two essays. As for which one..

for me a Module C would be ideal, as my elective is Telling the Truth and deals with the media, and it is a passionate issue that would work well with a feature article..

But as for History and Memory and Powerplay... i think it would work

But Module B has been the one out of the three that usually is the non-essay type and because critical study is meant to have more personal opinion, it seems the helpful thing to do, using a more personal text type.

But in actual fact, if you only know essays its really not that hard to adapt it to another type, in fact it might be easier! Whether its helpful or not, I think of say, a speech or even a feature article like an essay except with more personal, laidback language. As long as you dont take personal too far, and incorporate the features for that text type (they will be looking for those) just think of how you would speak to an audience or how you would write for the SMH. Tell your essay, use sophisticated sentences and have a well developed thesis but if your required to speak to a group of 17 and 18 year olds then it doesnt have to be exactly like essay-talk...

Having said that, once i did a radio interview for an exam and i was marked down because didnt have enough quotes... my mum works for ABC radio, and im telling you they would never just randomly quote the text ten times like that, and they would talk quite friendly and informally. So dont let that 'freedom' of a different textual type let you go CRAZY.... but it should allow you to loosen up a bit.

EVERYONE PUMPED FOR TOMORROW?
I guess we will all be back here saying: “I told you so, I told you so”
Maybe we should start a bet .... :)

My predictions:

Module A (Wordsworth and Malouf): Generic, simple question- essay
Module B (KL): Textual Integrity question- essay or speech
Module C (Frontline): Simple enough truth/representation stuff- feature article :|

I like the idea of a feature article and an interview. They are a lot of fun to write and are easier than a full blown essay. Doing three essays may get a bit monotonous.

But 3 essays are much easier.

How do you write a feature article in the context of a HSC exam? (A genuine question, please help me just incase they ask lol)

I think the general idea is to make it more 'chatty' and less formal than an essay. My teacher said this includes stuff like shorter sentences and rhetorical questions etc
