No Fred, but Ljubo and Keenan in. Another signing on the cards too. Double defence is looking good.

Apparently sydney have given up on Cocu and are going for John Aloisis now. I have never been a big fan of Aloisi

Yeah, but who havn't Sydney FC chased.... *rolls eyes*
New coach, but the "marquee" mentality still stands. But on the other hand I suppose a "superstar" is needed to actually draw a crowd greater than 25,000.

well if the trend of pursuing old farts continues, that wouldn't surprise me at all.

Old farts doesnt matter, Its about doing the right thing on and off the field. It also doesnt help that unlike some teams, Sydney FC were successful right from the outset.

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Real shame Cocu wasn't able to be signed by Sydney, he is what Sydney needs a midfielder who can dictate play, feed Corica, Brosque and Zdrillic or go out himself. Someone like Aloisi will find it hard to get chances so I think he will have to play a more attacking midfielder role than an out-and-out striker should he be chosen.

We don't have enough strikers at the moment. Unless we get more then just Aloisi this break he will have to play as a striker.

I don't think selectors for the Costa Rican World Cup squad selected Hernandez because of his youtube videos...

I never said he was selected from his youtube videos, just that looking good on youtube is not indicitative of quality.

Besides, Youtube makes Baptista look good and he's also selected for the brazilian squad...

Carlos Hernandez is a good player. Should do a good job in the A-league but then again so should have Brian Deane and he was terrible.

Whats everyone think of Agostino being signed by Adelaide? I think he was a waste of money but he may prove me wrong.

Shitty choice. When will A-League teams apart from Melbourne and perhaps Newcastle realise that old, have-been players are fooking shite. All I ever hear about are Gaybar FC trying to sign old farts like Zola, Sherringham, Di Canio, Cocu etc. FFS, get some young blood in your team. Can anybody say Broxham/Leijer?

At least Wellington is putting together a decent squad. Looks like MVFC has the treble firmly in the bag.
