oh and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly has a phenomenal one

and pretty much every studio ghibli film ever and Grave of the Fireflies

on the topic of hans zimmer, I personally don't really find much of his stuff amazing (except for lion king which was rad) however music is such a subjective thing and resonates differently with each person, just because it appeals to certain people it doesn't mean those people "suck".

I'm pro zimmer purely because his music sounds epic in most cases and fits well enough with where ever it's used in the movie(s).
Just because it takes more effort to write individual character scores and adjust them for mood and theme doesn't really add much compared to using less specific mood music imo. However, in certain movies that are supposed to be ~deeper~ than typical entertainment and foster ~emotional connections~ between various parts it might be better to go down that route I guess. The article seemed like musical movie score purist wank.

Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit
Tron: Legacy - Love Daft Punk
Inception - 'Time' by Hans Zimmer, gives me chills every listen.
Zac Hemsey does epic soundtracks - 'The Way' is beautiful.

Jaws theme. All those good times of playing this during online zombie gaming.
