Yeah, we're doing Browning, P&P and Ibsen as well. And, scarily enough, I'm also doing Wilde's "an ideal husband", along with Vanity Fair, which is great if you have the time to read it, because it's basically designed to comment on society - also, it's a great book :D

Anyone thinking about doing a non-fiction text? I'm thinking abt doing Marx or Darwin.

yeeehhh

Heya

I'm currently doing a biyatch of an assessment for this, and am using The Portrait Of A Lady, the movie version of a Henry James novel, directed by Gillian Armstrong, and a book by EM Forster: Where Angels Fear To Tred. And if theres any one out there that is still iffy about related material, these are both really good. The books short and has an awesome plot, and the movie's really well directed - you can pull a whole lot of film techniques out of it.

and i think theres a couple of people on this forum that go to my school (muldersgun and beeflatt i'm lookin' at you)

We just finished our 3 prescribed texts (P&P, A dolls House and browning) on thursday. Now we have to revise and start working out our responses

Do you think one would be disadvantaging themselves if they chose a related text that was a (very) contemporary appropriation of a 19th century text?
