Today was a glorious day for literary acquisition, even if I'd originally only intended to get the first two books listed; (Which I got in the insanity of Co-Op.) The others were second-hand.

Virginia Woolf-The Waves [Penguin Modern Classics]
W.B Yeats-The Poems (A good 900 pages.. Every poem he wrote, plus copious footnotes. )
Gunter Grass-The Tin Drum (Only seen the film, which was interesting in its own right, but the book is generally regarded as even better, and influential upon writers such as Salman Rushdie.)
Arthur Miller-The Crucible
George Orwell-Penguin Essays Of George Orwell
Maurice Keen-Penguin History Of Medieval Europe
George Elliot-Middlemarch

The wackiness of acquisition continues. Today, my local library had a rather limited sale, yet I still managed to find some decent History books..

Yeah, but through the wonders of careful shopping and taking advantage of second-hand bookshops, I manage to do so quite cheaply. The seven books I bought this week only cost $38, so not bad. Besides, doing the above would just be no fun.

Anyone else buying books at the moment?

i bought today for $10 fences and windowns, by naomi klein. ive only read six or so chapters today but it's pretty good, albeit a little too subjective for my liking

um.. what do you think of Naomi Klein? One or two people have recommended "No Logo", though I'm not yet sure whether I should bump it up the list or whatever.

I have no idea I'll give it a go since you're another Murakami fan Also give Banana Yoshimoto's books a go.. they're like Murakami's but usually from a female (16-25) perspective, and more sentimental (maybe consequently).
