I think both Biggie and 2pac were fantastic rappers. I myself don't compare them as they were two different guys with two different styles. Both were very versatile capable of bumpin club tracks or very deep songs. Look at "If I Should Die Before I Wake" by Biggie or "So Many Tears" by Pac, two of my all time favourite songs.

personal opinion? i can appreicate both styles but for me i feel Tupac clicked better, he might not have been fast and maybe his ryhmes werent as "good" [ hard to say what is good considering we are talking about elite rappers here] but i feel he connected better with his demographic, he won fanboys and got the market penetration. I think he was a more sucessful raper and he was pretty much the Elvis of the 80-90ies, everyone knows his name even if they cant name more than 1 or 2 songs.

Maybe its that i didnt grow up in the 80's so i have a harder time connecting with what biggie has to say, where as Tupac talks about broader issues, racism, poverty, sexism, broken homes, teenage pregnancy and abusive relationships - i.e things that will always [sadly enough] be topical

Its pretty hard for me to say tupac was "better" i think he had a highly desirable style, but biggies flow i must admit made Tupac sound like a gospel preacher

You cant just judge someone on how fast they rap, how good their flow ans ryhmes is, theres other stuff aswell, hjow sucessful they were, size of their following, money, their image, how they look, how they grew up, what they did for the industry, what[if anything] they shed light upon and how they effected those that listened to him.

but just my personal opinion, f u think biggie was better i really cant fault you, and depending on the day and what i want to listen to, i might agree with you... you just cant say that one shits all over the other though...
Wait a minute, where did u get the idea that Biggie is from the 80's, he only was influential from 1992 onwards???

Something needs to be clarified here. The East coast style compared to the West coast style. Obviously, if you listen to hip hop you'd realise that the West does not really place rhyming techniqes etc as their focal point. The styles are different... In my opinion really complex lyricism is a characterisitc of the East i.e. Rakim, Nas, Big Pun, Biggie, etc . Ice Cube, Ice-T, Snoop, Dre, Warren G and Pac have a distinctively different style. I havent included Game here cos his flow is Nooo York baby.

I think what i just said is just a load of shit anyway. Im still sticking with Tupac >> Biggie simply because of the larger catalogue, and i just like his music better.

P.S "What's Your Phone Number" is a really shitty track on Pac's apparent "best album" All Eyez On Me. You're pretty stupid to say Biggie was all about commercialism when Pac includes this track in his double disc album.
When the fuck did i say that biggie was all about commercialism????

because i was born in 87, hence didnt grow up in the 80s, grew up in the 90's. One tends not to be too aware of there surroundings when they are young, my first encounter with the wide wide world was when the olympics in 96 meant my cartoons werent being shown ok? if i had done my growning up in the 80's then i would have been aware of the 90's, as it is i grew up in the 90's and know about the world in detail from about 2000 onwards... 5 year old kids tend not to be into hardcore rap, and the only reason i new tupac died[i didnt even know who he was at the time] was cause my cousin told me...

whats with the pic ?, i have been offended by it and would like you to remove that picture. Im asking because their is not much I can do to prevent it, but for you to remove it would show some manners and respect which I find hard to find in some people.

lol this thread reminds me when i was into the rap scene. well back then i had large amounts of respect for Tupuc, primarily due to the fact that he stood up for what he believed in.

im very sure there would be ALOT of people who love hip hop and 2pac isn't even in their top 5.

my top 10-20 is mostly always changing but theres a few rappers who stay.

1. jay-z
2. notorious b.i.g
3. big l/ice cube
4. nas
5. big pun/AZ
6. Raekwon/Black Thought
7. redman
8. Common
9. prodigy (infamous days)
10. Ghostface/DMX
11. KRS-One
12. Murda Mase (C.O.C days)
13. andre 3000/Bun-B
14. Inspectach Deck
15. Big Daddy Kane/D.O.C
16. Q-Tip (ATCQ days)
17. Method Man (in his prime, wu-tang days)/Jadakiss
18. LL Cool J (he used to be higher, but well 20 years in the rap game has taken a toll on him)
19. Big Boi
20. CL Smooth

dont even think 2pac would make my top 25...MAYBE my top 30

1. T.I
2. Joe Budden
3. Cassidy
4. Papoose
5. Killer Mike
6. Ludacris (hmmm from his first 2 albums that is)
