I'm going with three mates, we are trying to get 4 TST-7 tickets to see Australia/whoever knocks us out eventually.

The whole FIFA process is gay though, like I have to get a passport by the end of the month when applications close - for travel in an event 16 months away - just because FIFA need to know an exact passport number. No passport number, no ticket.

It's around $1250 US for a TST-7 pass, so that is reasonable by FIFA standards, i guess (plus, you would pay that to see the final from a scalper). Would have been great value 12 months ago! Plus around $1800 return Sydney-Joburg with Qantas + living/drinking expenses, looking around $8k for the month I am there.

TST-7 is for the final, yeh. 3 group matches + round of 16 + quarter final + semi final + final.

The whole process of what happens if Australia is knocked out in the group stages/round of 16 is murky though. Like they don't specifically tell you what R16/QF/SF game you will attend in that event.

Um, like we will travel around, sample some nice SA beers, check out the sights in between the matches. We are there for a month, so I'm sure we will have plenty of time to see shit.

That is, if whatever graduate position I apply for gives me a month off in July. I am hoping they will, it is probably one of the quietest times of the year.

We won't be watching Australia if they keep playing like that though! Verbeek is proven right yet again with his criticism of the A-League.

im going as well, havent yet found anyone to go with though, looking at tst-3. you honestly think australia is going to play in the world cup as they did against japan? australias set up was planned to play defensive football with no attacking options except cahill on about 3 defenders.

verbeek's main objective is to qualify for the world cup so the asian cup is second priority for him.

once australia has qualified for the world cup im pretty sure you will see a different style of football from the socceroos.

i saw that, fuck it was an amazing strike.

I think we will set up our attack around Cahill, understandably. McDonald can competently play up front on his own so I would assume a 4-5-1 with Cahill given license to roam a la Gerrard for England/Liverpool. Option B is Kennedy/McDonald up front in a 4-4-2 but I think that is too attacking for Verbeek. He will make us hard to break down.

Considering we held Italy for 95 mins in the Round of 16, with an inferior/less experienced squad, I would like to think we have a chance of making it to the quarters at least.

It's a little pricey, $1250 US, but I see it as a once in a lifetime (ok, every four years) event. My mates went to Euro 2008 without me cos I had exams and I promised myself I wouldn't miss this one.

Of course, given there were 60 million applications for 3 million tickets in Germany, I only have a minute chance of getting tickets legally.

true, hopefully i actually get selected. tst-7 for a person following australia is actually a better chance of getting a ticket if you think about it. not many people would be going for them.

Lol my handicap is like 28, you could say golf is not my strength. I bought a set of Big Berthas around 3 years ago because they were meant to help me get my handicap down or something, but the clubs can only do so much.

I might have a few rounds, but with just hiring the golf clubs. That way you don't have the lug them around.

Also, I'm a keen punter so I would love to spend a day at the track in Vaal or Turffontein.

how does that work?

cahill has no ability with ball at feet
all he can do is head the ball on set pieces
and he makes good runs into the box like ballack, hence he always scores when the ball's messy/rebound etc etc

lol mines about 12. just got back into recently since 2005 and bought my self a whole new set of golf clubs. treated myself to some callaway x-22 tour irons 3-pw, clevelend 60 degree lob wedge, tour odyssey putter, callaway ft5 driver and callaway hyper x 3 and 5 fairway woods. cost a bit but worth it.

i love a punt myself mainly in the casino though, wouldnt mind a try on the racecourse, seems fun and alot of drinking is involved :D
