the 1 gig plan is a bloody rip off. the only plan of significant value is the unlimited plan.

Not everyone are heavy internet users (like us :D)

There are people out there that use the internet merely for email and some browsing.

err.....they won't be sucking up very much. Unless they're doing alot of uploading an extra people or two checking their emails isn't going to slow your downloads.

Its because of more moderate users that keep the prices down. If everyone downloaded silly amounts every month it would just eventually force prices up.

ie, netstats -> datamonitor.

Of course, we'll have the same problem once everyone goes to Telstra :D

You can't actually upload as much as you want like before - its never actually been like that. Many people have had their plugs pulled for excessive uploading.

The upload limit should still be 16kb/s.

i remember when i uploaded all this shit to people, it never counted on my Usage page, because its free

the only thing restricted is the actual speed, that you upload at which is 16kb/per second

is this correct?

and on this topic, what will be the download speed on the new plans? (i assume unlimted because thats the name of the plan)
i no the limit will be 12gigs

You're right, the amount uploaded doesnt count towards your usage, and its at 16kb/s. What I meant was, this doesn't mean you can upload an unlimited amount. Read threads on Whirlpool and aus.athome.users and you'll find that the number one reason people's accounts were suspended is excessive uploading. No one knows the exact figure that causes this though.

The athome infrastucture is just that, designed for home use, ie, download > upload. Excessive upload saturates the network and makes it bad for everyone on your node (you'll notice slower download speeds when you upload at 16/kbs), and hence our 16kb/s upload limit.
