Been tutored by Dr Du for almost a year now in EXT 1 and EXT 2 math, his lessons and his way of tutoring is really really professional, the only negative is he doesnt make his own material or give you any lecture notes for math. Homework is all from textbooks (Fitzpatrick, Cambridge and Terry Lee) and you make your own notes when he does the lecture. Although I've been hearing that he's making his own textbook.

It's best to find a tutor who you get along with. If you're not compatible it will just be so hard for you to understand anything that they are trying to explain. The younger the better. Uni students are better than actual teachers.

In general, i think you should look for:

1) someone with good communication skills - so that they can explain things in a way that is best understood by you;
2) someone who can relate to you and what difficulty you are experiencing with the subject(s);
3) someone who is enthusiastic and inspirational;

HOpe that helps! =)

Why?? Teachers actually have experience while Uni students don't...

its an one on one online tution ....i'm taking maths classes frm there ,its a cool option ....i just love the way they teach u ....all d faculty members are highly qualified ,patient and friendly .....earlier even i was as mesmerised as u are but now i'm chilled n just too satisfied as far as my tutors are concerned ...i ,now no longer have to search for the right tutor .....and ,moreover we generally are quite frank and open to a faceless online tutor than in face to face online tutions....so u can easily go along with the tutors to develop an understanding in a better way

Wat do u look for in a tutor? you look for people that can explain something so well that you could understand and not just memorise.

Apex education group is the leading education and training specialist, they have teachers that specialises in each year so you can have the best understanding about what you are learning.

For me i've got a private tutor, but what you look for in a tutor?
-Whether or not you can understand the way he/she teaches and explains things
-Whether or not he/she can answer the questions you ask
-Whether or not you can get along with your tutor
-Whether or not they can provide you with an indepth explanation of concepts raised in subjects (because it is always best to know all the fine points in subjects so you don't get caught out) (science based subjects)
-Maybe find out if they have experience or not (for me, this is really important coz they pretty fine tuned the way they teach for maximum effectiveness)
If possible find out if the are passionate about teaching (if you get a lazy tutor chances are they are not gonna help much)

Hope this helps
