Did anyone else get a tsunami warning come over the P.A today at 7am?
I dont know if someone put the microphone up to the radio or it was a company thing?

But fuck...tsunami warning.
Wow you must live very close to the beach? My niece still went to surf lifesaving this morning and we were meant to be the first place to be "hit". I think there were rises of 17cm recorded?

Work was fantastic today, as really, I did shit all.
I had a nice argument with one of my packers this morning, as he broke our only labelling machine TWICE, both in major facepalm ways.
My manager felt sorry for me all day, as I was ill enough to have been able to genuinely call in sick, so he had me working on the shop floor with him as early as he possibly could.
Every time I tried to do ANYTHING all day (changing the tables over, freezer runs, filling the propriety aisle, stocktake) I was called onto checkouts. I spent a good 3 hours across the day on checkouts, even though I was only working for about 6 hours of actual trading hours.
Good fun!

Somehow managed to fit stocktake in

I had three hours for tickets - I spent two of them on checkouts. I had two operators stay back half an hour to finish tickets :| So I hope they did an okay job, I bailed.
We were two down in the morning, and one down in the afternoon - and we weren't allowed to replace at all.

I have cash office from 5pm though :( But I agree that tickets should be done after close (not because that would mean I wouldn't have to do it or anything, lol)

Was supposed to have done, idk, like five departments today. I did grocery. Thats it.

On the topic of tickets, I was playing with an RF gun the other night and found some cool stuff which you would all know lol.
I go into Inventory Management > Price/Tickets (i think) and scan the barcode on the tickets, it displays if the promotion price is correct or not.

We've got a special on a ton of chocolate atm, going for 99c, and we have these confec stands at self serve, I scanned and almost all came up as "PROMO ERROR", they hadn't put the on-special flaps on them.
It even said the ticket for the Ferrero Rocher chocolates was displaying that it was more expensive then it actually was.

Talk about missing out on sales lol

BTW newb question - what is stocktake?

That wouldn't surprise me. After around 2 hours of tickets I get convinced its actually 3 weeks later, so instead of pulling off 35s i start pulling off 38s or some shit like that.
And then when people do a price check and remove the ticket.
And then when the ticket never makes it up on show because it goes to my pile of "yeah I don't know what that is".

I hate doing tickets. three years later and I'm never going to get rid of it.

5,1,1 in the RF gun! Price Management you mean :p.
You can request tickets from there also.
(then Go to back office, 5,3,7, F9, F6 <find your tickets you requested>, F6, F6 Enter etc.)
Fuuuuu i spent too much time at work clearly!

Also, 5,3,1: Item Details I think it is, just tells you the sale price and promo price (if applicable)

Stocktake is where the department gets counts/weight (fresh food etc.) for every item they have, to decipher What stock they have, and how much of it. Then a stocktake Cost of stock report is printed, once transmitted, to see how much $ worth of stock there is in the department.

YES! I hate tickets, considering telling the systems girl I don't want to do tickets after my management thing finishes. Ill agree to doing them when someone is N/A

I tried to get rid of tickets, quite a few times.

First time - When they wanted to move tickets to after close. The SSM at the time decided I'd want cash office over tickets. SM didn't like that idea, so I still start tickets at 2pm.

Second time - one of the weekend supervisors quit. So our CSM said she'd try to convince our SM that she desperately needed me on Saturdays. Failed miserably.

Third time - when I hurt my shoulder. Scanning policies doubled in those weeks. Our SSM was so desperate to get me back doing tickets. The Rehab/Compo people at Kewdale are currently investigating why someone with an injury to the right shoulder does tickets - err, still hasn't got me out of tickets.

The thing is though, I hate checkouts on Saturday afternoons. The whole vibe is awful. Also my SM has said if I give up tickets I also have to give up cash office, which I quite like.
So I guess I'm stuck with it for the time being.

They can only fuck you round so much...
I don't really have much to lose by quitting tickets, more hours on checkouts, i'll become a supervisor then. hah.

I did, a shift in meat, since the manager was sick.. filling.
He drafts me into Fridays and Saturdays (9 hours each day) - his days off. Part time contract.
he decides to go on holiday and asks me to do his relief, simple as that.
Since we are a Case Ready department, and pretty small, we have one meat person a day. So it's 2 of us running the dept for the whole week.
I was the only other person in the department.
Epic eh?
