Mon-Sat, what time are you open to?

We do 900k a week (we did 876k last week because perishables weren't coping with two resignations from the week prior) and we're open:

Mon-Fri: 6am-9pm
Sat: 6am-5pm
Sun: 11am-5pm

Generally do between 180-200k on a Saturday; most departments do about 25% of weekly sales on Saturday, but for some reason you rarely see department managers that day, and often the 2IC's are missing as well.
strange hours, mine are:

Mon-Fri 7:30am-12pm
Sat 7:30am-9pm
Sun 8am-9pm

we went over 1mil the last 2 weeks, but 180k on a saturday is still pretty crazy for us.

Do you do much trade after 9am weekdays/after 5pm Saturday and Sunday?

5pm on saturday and sunday is quite busy till around 6, weekdays around 4 when school is finished it gets rather busy too, i'd say they're the busiest periods

I'd love to close at 5pm! We do pretty much the same as grobsh:

Mon-Fri - 7.30-12midnight
Sat - 7.30am - 10pm
Sun - 8.00am - 10pm

Hrm. Checking operating hours for SA Woolworths on their website at the moment.

All the SA stores I checked (in and around the city) close at 9pm weekdays and 5pm weekends.

Marden, Unley and Cumberland Park open at 6am weekdays and Saturdays, and 11am on Sundays. However, others opened at 7am weekdays.

So maybe closing at 5pm on weekends and closing at 9pm weekdays is an SA thing? :)

Most department managers will be hiring people to ensure they have enough staff for the christmas rush. Sales should be increasing each week as we get closer to christmas, which means more hours to use in your department. If your hours are getting cut and you're getting less and less towards christmas, it would be most likely because of a department manager doing the wrong things haha. If you're in groceries, perishables or produce, its most likely due to bad planning, quick wins not being completed properly, basically not having enough stock on the shelves and losing sales because of it. If you're on checkouts it basically has a flow on effect due to not making enough sales.
Yeah, i understand. I just wanted to see if it was across the board.
Basically, in my store, every department except Deli has cut hours.

Welcome to Western Australia, My store opens:

monday, tuesday, wednesday, friday: 8am to 6pm
Thursday: 8am to 9pm
Saturday: 8am to 5pm
Sunday: Closed

and we make about the same, just under 600k a week.

Can you imagine how busy the busiest store in WA (gateways) is doing 1.6 million a week and only opening 9am to 5.30pm weekdays and 9 to 5 on saturdays, closed on sundays. I would love to have a cruzy late night shift with few customers around but its just not the reality in WA, every available shopping hour is pretty busy.

Please write in proper english.. It's tough reading what you write. If yo uthink being a school kid is tough as it is, boy are you in for a reality check.

MY store is like that, except 7am - 10pm.

And every store, AFAIK, is open on NYD.

Just emailed the HR officer enquiring about any possibility of furthering my career with Woolworths. Will talk to my manager soon enough.

Fingers crossed.
