My SM is the worst person for throwing stuff in the store. You better hope he doesn't find a piece of rotten fruit because if you are on the floor he will throw it at you...but I always make him get on his hands and knees and clean it up.

I also heard something very interesting about one of our Male Supers. Apparently he and this other guy (Who is a produce assistant) go to a Spa on Monday after work and....ummm a bit awkward but they apparently also watch porn together. Strange stuff.

Only 3 hours today. Was going to have it off so I could have a 3 day weekend but SM begged me to come in because it is the busiest Saturday of the year, in terms of Store Room. Only Saturday of the year where we receive a Grocery Load. He wanted me to do until 12 but I told him I'm working til 9 and that's it. He had no choice in the matter.

Although he is bloody lucky I am doing it because it's a non contracted shift and I could have quite easily told him to stuff it. But what the hell.

Oh come on, you surely have gays in NZ, especially in Woolworths! I can't believe you're suprised!!!

It's scary how much they buy for the holidays. Some of the guys here are right...you'd wonder if they're storing their food just because it's closed for a day. I once asked a lady at Xmas time last year when she bought her leg of ham (which was humongous). I asked her how long it would last her. She said they'd probably eat half of it and keep the rest till Jan when they've give it to the dog... :speechless:

I do five hours tomorrow...and I leave after the crazy crowds of lunchtime dissipate hah! 930-230. Did 7 hours on Thursday...wasn't as busy as it was purported IMO. Owell.

Of course we have homosexuals in NZ, and I'm sure there are a few at my store, all I was saying was it was a bit awkward for me sitting in the room while this guy was telling us (there were 3 other people in the staff room) about them.

I don't have a problem with homosexuals, I don't really care what they do with each other but I would prefer not to know about it.

Being able to check sales is the best thing about having Office Cashier access instead of Service Supervisor (which is seriously all I need) ;) I have a favourites menu set up so that I ONLY use the things I actually know how to use (I accidentally entered a spot check in the pickup menu once, whoops! We had to ring the SSO at home to fix it, yeah thats the exact call you want at 7pm on a Sunday). It has like 7 things in it, its so pathetic.

Ugh, i literally pressed snooze 10 times this morning.

Was seriously not busy.

Busier than a normal saturday that's for sure, but to warrant the amount of staff that we had on, deffinitely not. Had people that didn't know wtf to do, because that's seriously how many staff we had on.

Nevertheless, completed my 10 hour shift (5am - 3pm) and now I am completely buggered. I'm getting a new manager (again) ... this'll be like my 3rd manager that's been transferred to another store. -___- Hopefully we'll get a good manager this round as well.

But yay. 2.5x pay

About to go to work. I've heard (from people commenting on other people's facebook statuses) that its heaps busy at my Coles store and I know last year it was.

Only working 5pm-8pm though but with public holiday rates this one shift is more then I would have earnt last week had I not been given a Sunday shift.

Happy Easter everyone!

Good Luck everyone for Round 2 tomorrow.
Was seriously not busy.
Fuck, lol, worst day ever.
I started at 5.
The SM approached me at 7.30 (store open) and told me that I would have to be the manager today as he needed the actual manager to help longlife. This was ok with me, nothing I'm not used to.

BUT by 8 am, I'd responded to TWO express alerts, which none other than the SM personally called me over the PA for. Then I was on checkouts again from 9 am - 10 am (the whole hour), and again from 11-11.45, and then from 12-12.20.
Whilst somehow being the bakery manager.

Then they let me have my manager back as groceries had apparently managed to track more staff down (yay!) and the dock was in some sort of order (double yay!).

It was ridiculously fucking busy. Customers everywhere. Like, I'm filling our tables and feeling like I was suffocating (I AM NOT CLAUSTROPHOBIC) because the customers were literally pressing into me, EVERYWHERE. Zomg.

The Area Manager turned up at 2 pm and told me I'd done a very good job  (the SM had introduced me to him, and said that I was more or less the manager today, lol).

Having to do 2 days worth of markdowns raped me for time. Also attempting to find stock to cover tables, lol.

THEN.... In case it wasn't bad enough that I didn't have a lot of staff, that I got thrown into managing the bakery on a public holiday, and had lost my manager for the entire morning, the SM - knowing that I had signed off and was there on my own time - sent my manager to go to 2 stores like a 45+ minute drive away, to pick up bananas.

Issues here:

  1. We are bakery department, not produce. Kthx.
Lol. So like all over 2 hours later my manager comes back (this is like, 5.30 pm). He's all... "wtf are you still doing here i told the SM to send you home!"
I'm like "um, didn't get that message"
Appaz the SM told my manager that he would help me train our inexperienced packer in out the front (pretty much to do markdowns, cover all the tables and fill it, keep it looking generally tiday). The SM knew I was there the whole time, didn't say a word of any of thatm and didn't offer to help, either.

All in all, I worked 5 am - 6 pm, with one tea break all day. I'm fair tired but oh well! Work tomorrow!! Nice late start for me :D

P.S. Sorry for the long post.

EDIT1: As for sales. I left at 6pm, as I said, and we were on like 5.5k for instore, with 6 hours of trade to go, customers EVERYWHERE, and a fair coverage of bread. Our normal instore Saturday is 3.3k-3.8k. Definitely busier than normal :)

EDIT2: I got a fucking ridiculous amount of work done today, even though I was a bit annoyed at my SM for what he did, I was proud of myself, and so was he :)

lol this was my fucking nightmare today! soooo many markdowns! went through 5 rolls, which is a lot for my dept, so much milk!! Whole dept smashed, esp eggs, had to overlay half the case. plus one of the dairy cases broke down just to add more stress to the day, and I had to assist checkouts 4 times for a total of 1.5hrs, which is a lot when your trying to manage a dept, and i'm like wtf are my checkout numbers again???

I did the screens for this week and there were no major oos for any fish, chips or promo lines, SM v. happy, me v. relieved! its gonna take the whole week to build the stock levels up again, dept did 7k above plan which is huge for us. gotta start 5am Monday to build ends! yay! by myself, but i don't mind as i'm not on salary and contracted to work Sundays, so i get paid to sleep in tomorrow and penalty rates today and Monday, makes it seem worthwhile now lol :)

Happy Easter all :)

Well since the Coles thread is barren lol should post over here. In one word: crazy. Up until lunchtime it was busier than Thursday! You couldn't move because customers were everywhere, there were queues despite all 24 registers being open, regional manager popped in and was actually happy with us since we had all the stock on show. We didn't quite meet Thursday but we should be only $50k away from it when we were predicted to be $110k. So well over $800k for the two days. Left at 6.30pm and it had quietened down. I actually think most shoppers actually love shopping on Easter Thursday/Saturday as it gives them something to whinge about.

most of the customers that I had served, were actually pissed at something :S
I was serving them normally with a smile and stuffs, positive attitude. And there they are with a grumpy frown. wtf do you want me to do =/

and wixxy - wow, sounds like u guys got hammered.
For us though, we did significantly less in sales compared to last year.
by 1pm last year, we had made 12k in the deli. This year, we did around 6-7k. total disappointment. lol was just a bit busier than a saturday, but not by much becauseof the amount of staff we had on :p

It's so cool working in a service department - don't get called to express alerts ot the front end ^_^

They do in our store ;)
Not often, but on occasion... if it's THAT bad. I think the idea is that "anyone" can work in deli so long as they're fresh food trained and have their head screwed on... so if there's someone in deli with checkout numbers it's easier to replace them in deli than not to call them for the express alert. Idk idk.

Hey I've asked this question before I think but no one responded - if you have access to an Office menu, then you place items from that menu in your favourites, and then your access to that menu is withdrawn, can you still access the items from your favourites? Because when i had dpt mgr, mgr, svc mgr i built up the sexiest favourites, and now i only have office cashier and service supervisor, but everything like store performance report, operator performance, department sales etc i can still access. Is that all in Office Cashier?

Today was good fun. At 11 the CSM went to lunch, came back at 12, and in that time when i was the supervisor we did 10k, but max for every other hour was about 6.5. That ALWAYS happens. But the afternoon was pretty quiet, but lots of staff, which was amazing. I LOATHE having sim cards on special. Citrix is so. fucking. slow.

Today wasn't that bad, just a busier Saturday than normal. Did my normal 10am to 6pm shift (Yay for 2.5). Whole Westfield centre is closed tomorrow but myself and most of us in longlife will be in tomorrow to do ends for Monday. Saves us the time and money for when they normally need us early on Monday mornings to do those damn ends. My DM told me we made 450k sales on Thursday. Three days worth in just that one day.

lol, went into work this morning... it wasn't that bad of rape.

But anyway, heard this bakery chick try and explain to this women that they're would be some hot X buns shortly... they just came out of the oven, and they're cooling down and it will take 30 mins. The lady got all cranky and I was like you've had since New Years... BITCH!
Ha, this is all I told people this morning. We ended up putting them in the freezer.

I liked bakery though :p

All of that is in office cashier, because thats all I have. I don't even have service sup.

They do in our store

Ha, not me, I'm banned from ever working in deli/seafood ever again.
