For one of my subjects at school, the whole class dropped so my school wouldn't be able to staff it, and they said I would have to do distance education next year for the year 12 content. Does anyone know what this is like and if it will still help me to get good marks? Like how do they teach you?

I did all of year 11 and 12 distance ed and it sucked really bad for me since I cannot self study at all and I have terrible discipline 😭 but if you're the opposite of me and you can self study and hold yourself accountable I'm sure you'll be fine especially since it's only for one subject. They mostly use zoom lessons (just going over slide shows) and depending on the subject they'll give you a work book or a quiz style activity. It's possible to get good marks, it's all dependant on you tbh and if you're motivated to work hard

are the zoom meetings like in groups or just you and the teacher? and are they on certain times or can you choose the time?

Zoom meetings are with your whole class and the teacher(s). They're usually around 11am - 12pm, depending on the subject (but most often around those times) I never got to choose the times so I'm pretty sure you can't choose times

I did year 11 engineering distance ed with SDEHS. How it worked was they sent worksheets through the mail and also pdfs online, along with a textbook chapter. You needed to do one set of worksheets each week, and we arranged with our teacher to do fortnightly web lessons. The worksheets were pretty easy and was basically just copying the textbook. We also had termly study days where we’d go into the school in Woolloomooloo, and try cover a lot of content in 4 hours. Overall it was alright, but the struggle is not having someone to ask questions in person, especially cause engineering is sort of content heavy. I’d recommend utilising all email messaging systems with your teacher, and if you’re struggling and they are a nice teacher book extra one on one meetings if you feel you’re falling behind. Ig it also depends on the nature of the subject you’re doing, and the school you’re doing the distance ed with
