i knew this is a stupid question but what is trance and house and what the difference?
Hard question to answer depending upon your defintion of "trance". Often older trance would focus on introducing and manipulating layers or samples, very concerned with structure, as to induce a feeling of trance in the listener. However, trance today could mean anything due to the blurring of sub-genres of trance and house and is generally of a lower quality then was seen, imo.

House is less "synthetic" and focuses less on structure I suppose. It generally has alot less "electronic" sounding samples and often you'll hear natural instrumental influences in a house song. Its therefore, designed primarlly to be danced to and thus has alot of catchy hooks and melodies.

house was kinda 2005-2006, electric now dominates the dance scene. trance will always be there and its good but depends by who, artists like tiesto have made me shudder at the thought of trance.. which is why i prefer vocal trance or hardstyle trance (scot project, etc.)
Im curious, have you heard any of tiestos older work? (Suburban train, netherworld, tear in the open, sparkles) It is of very high quality, in fact you'll often find that most people who do listen to EDM "shudder" at vocal or hardstyle trance which is considered to be of lower artistic crediblity then older trance.

i do have some of tiesto's old stuff, suburban train is ok.. thats still his commercialised trash imo

PF scott brown is hardcore! or hardstyle, no where near trance :p but he makes awesome shit especially on bonkers remixes

To me, Trance takes everything that is good about House and makes it less interesting to listen to. It doesn't have that organic feel that House has, and completely severs its connection with House's roots (such as funk, electro and soul). And it's too energetic for me. I love House's laid-back beats, which are fast enough to dance to, but slow enough to chill to.

Time to go listen to some MoS Sessions.

House sounds old and grumpy, thats its problem.

it takes alot more time/skill to make a good electronica track.

electronica is THE largest and most varied genre out there.

Good work, you've just proven the stereotype of the ignorant hip hop listener who is stoned 24/7 and illiterate as true; spastic.
