Has anyone transferred between the non-law components before after 1st year, eg from science/law to comm/law. If this can be done in the first place, can anyone tell me the procedure for this and the difficulty levels in coping with this change after first year.

It's a question that would vary and is best answered by the individual uni - give their law faculty a call and interrogate them until you have all the answers.
