Yes, please read the sticky (one of the threads at the top of this section).

You need to tell us:

Your school, assessment marks (final), rankings, and anything else which would help.

I wouldn't worry too much about trial results, just tell us the final assessment mark as a percentage (or out of 50 for 1U courses)

:)

oh dear

oh dear mads....you're in a bit of trouble.

I would say you are looking at a UAI of around 20-25.

Do some solid study and you might make it into the 30's

Best of luck.

thats all I will say.....
Then I will say this instead, before UAC does.

UAI: "Less than 30.00"

Mads, you need to improve in every subject if you want a UAI.

(Even though you are in the Top 120th of the state, school-wise).

her school isn't in the top 120, she goes to mine, and its well back. I think she meant to put >120, not -120.

What do they give you if they don't give you a UAI anyway?

will they even giv out a UAI 2 someone who gets that mark?
Or will they simply giv out a certificate saying 'Congratulations, You've Completed Yr 12...Well Done'

Actually it's best to look at the trial marks as well.

Remember that your School assessment marks are moderated. they result from doing different assessment tasks all contributing to that mark out of 100.

Trial marks are very indicative of the type of marks you may receive from the HSC exam itself. And the BOS uses those HSC exam marks to moderate the assessment marks.

As an example,

John has done these following assessment tasks.

Practical exam: 20% - Mark: 5/20
Trial exam: 40% - Mark: 36/40
Half yearly: 20 - Mark: 14/20
Assessment task: 20% - Mark: 9/20

Overall: 64/100 (Which isn't particularly great if it was a poor scaling subject.)

His overall ranking is 5th out of 30.

It is clear from his trial exam that he is a capable student who knows his theory but performed badly in practicals.

If he received a 90/100 as a HSC exam as a result of being good in his theory, his averaged out HSC mark will be a lot greater.

Point is, assessment marks don't mean much. It's still good to provide them but the ranking that accompanies these assessment marks are more important.

But that's the only purpose of showing/telling your trial marks, to allow for some sort of comparison.

It doesn't mean much if you're trying to predict someone's UAI.

Unless you give them sympathy points (+5 UAI or something)

I know what you're saying though, but we're just HSC kids... ;)

Assessment marks are for showing the relative differences between students. That's it. There is no other use of these assessment marks.

Everything else is calculated from everyones HSC exam performance. And the trials being the closest exam done that is comparable to the HSC exam.

Hence someone who received 50/100 for his internal school mark isn't necesarrily going to get 50/100 as his moderated assessment mark. 50 being the minimum possible mark any HSC student can get.

A lot of people tend to make "comebacks". i.e. failing the first few assessments but blitzing the trials and the HSC. And end up with a high mark.

So as said, its good to provide the trial marks with it so comparison can be made. Especially if you did one of those more HSC type papers (CSSA, NEAP etc...).

Could you please post this into a new thread?

That way it will be less confusing.

Anton: 80 - 83

I assumed Ancient History.

Modern wouldn't give you that much of an increase.

Rage: I was just thinking the same, there's someone else (Eliza B) hijacking threads.
