Yeah true, but what if the chick is in the year above, does that change anything or notand what would be the best way of going about it, cause being a new student u dont really know anyone atm anyways

well... there are plenty of guys that go out with girls a year older than them, thats ok i guess but i dunno... guess its less socially acceptable than it should be. the other way round its usually considered perfectly fine but anyway, if you both like each other there isnt really a reason not to go out. and if you're a new student and you dont know anyone... well is there someone you've got your mind set on? because if there is then you go about it the same way as you'd go about it any other time. if there isnt, then i guess you could just go around looking for girls a year above you but otherwise do you think its really worth the effort?

There's nothing weird about it, but it makes it much more difficult at uni to find someone in the year below you, let alone in your year not doing your degree! I find its all v. closed off, and you only ever interact with people you know from lectures and tutes, so you only ever know the people in your degree. I haven't met a first year or 3rd year-above aged person from uni, all the ones I know I knew prior to uni.

I don't think it'd be that weird/difficult going out with someone in a different year to you. Besides, I know that in some of my tutorials/pracs there are people in 2nd year (I'm in first year) doing the same subject. So if you happen to find someone you like, what year they are in at uni shouldn't matter.

keep going out after he graduates?

at uni there are the general 1st years, 2nd years etc. but the classes tend to be mixed around. 3rd years do 2nd year subjects and so on. i don't see a problem with it.

No, people are too mature to care about that crap.
