yep, got a UNSW RSES interview offer on Tuesday

If you discuss your interview experiences, it provides your competition with an advantage therefore I suggest you be careful in regards to the information you provide to other applicants.

But is the girl going to be dux because of your notes? and if your notes are so good, why aren't you going to be dux - seeing as you did write them...

Lol ... well she wouldn't be an A grade student without my notes because she does sweet f all work herself. I'm not going to be dux because I don't kiss up enough... at our school it has nothing to do with eventual TER marks, but rather on teacher nomination.

Anyway, I was just pointing out that sometimes information sharing isn't reciprocal and so sometimes it's not very fair at all.

when i heard everyone got letters , all my friends were really vague - i thought they meant you ONLY got a letter if you did well ..
i didn`t apply for medicine - so i didnt get any emails that explains it.

oh & i did umat cos pharmacy @monash needs it. =]

erm rejection emails have been sent since i got one my predicted uai was 95 maybe it was my crappy umat?

Dear Applicant

I am sorry to inform you that unfortunately you have not been selected for
the first round of interviews being conducted from 24 to 28 September 2007.

This first round of interviews is based on combined predicted academic
result and actual UMAT result.

Applicants who were not selected for September interviews will be
considered for a second round of interviews to be held on January 2 and 3,
2008. Successful candidates for this interview will receive an invitation
email around mid December 2007. The selection for second round of
interviews will be based on combined actual academic result and UMAT
results. Approximately 100 applicants will be offered an interview in
early January in accordance with a ranked list.

So you can look at your predicted UAI and get a ROUGH idea of what you umat is below this year. It will have changed for this year
Say you got a 98 predicted, it means your UMAT might be under 188 this year. It could still be 187 so you could still have done well.
Don't worry be happy
And remember there are always late round interviews, other med schools, and other alternatives to getting into med straight away.
Don't stress! Nothing to do with med school entrance is the end of the world

Since my principal was crazy enough to give me 98-100, that means my UMAT might be under 151, eh? Can't wait 'til Thursday. LOL.

That sucks! I intentionally chose friday because I knew by then my final assembly (and beach day! yr 12s get to go to the beach in an attempt to stop us having a muck up day!) would be out of the way.

Hi all,
I'm really hoping to get into medicine under the RSES at UNSW but it occured to me that I have not done any work experience in a clinic or hospital or practice! Will this likely hurt me in my interview and hurt my chances of getting in? Is all hope lost?

lol. clinical experience helps but isn't a necessity. think about times u've bn around hospitals/drs/sick ppl/etc. and how this has affected u/made u empathetic/made u want 2 b a dr/etc.

I think you need to do either standard/Advanced English to get into medicine... (undergrad).

Hey, im gonna do arts/med aswell hopefully at UNSW or post-grad.
Art's at UNSW is a bit dodgy though.

1) dont leave it to chance for grad entry unless u really need to
2) ESL is allowed by unsw, just not advised

Assumed Knowledge

There are no prerequisites for entry into UNSW Medicine. However, there is assumed knowledge of Standard English (in the NSW HSC). Assumed knowledge is a level of achievement at the HSC (or equivalent) considered desirable for successful study. Students who do not have the assumed level of knowledge are not prevented from enrolling, but may be placed at a disadvantage.
