Some things i can remember (i have a good list but my modern history book is in my locker hehe):
Type of document: is it a newspaper, letter, patent, speech, map, telegram, press release etc
Unique physical qualities: handwritted, typed, notations, stamps, seals etc
Dates of document / Context (date, relevant historical events, location)
Author of document
Audience of document
Motivations behind document
Omissions
