ooooook HELP

Do we need to know about waste water management? it seems to be in every textbook .. and theres quite alot on it

Hows bout the dot point that says,

"describe and assess the effectiveness of METHODS used to purify and sanitise mass water supplies"

Why does it say methodS? i thought there was that one with filtration.. flocculation etc? Maybe is that where waste water fits into it?

i think it wants you to describe the process of

1. screening
2. flocculation
3. filtration
4. chlorination

I use...
Aeration: water sprayed into the air which oxidises iron salts.
Flocculation: alum used to create flocs which are easy to filter
Sedimentation: flocs settle to the bottom to form a sludge
Filtration: water filtered
Chlorination: water decontaminated with chlorine gas
Fluoridation: makes teeth awesome

Good to hear. And I don't think there is any need to refer to the treatment of waste water, and this is not extensively utilised in Aus relative to the rest of the world

Mass Filter - Rocks, Grates etc.
Flocculation - Adding of Iron (III) Chloride
Sedimentation
Filtration - Varying types of sand
Sanitisation - Adding of Chlorine to kill microorganisms and in Australia we also add Fluorine for kids teeth.
pH adjustment - Water made slightly basic so as not to corrode the concrete storage tanks.
