What do people think of studio apartments? (1 Viewer)

In desperate measures to try and find suitable accommodation for my TAFE course, and as I cannot commute, to keep the costs down, I have considered looking towards a studio apartment.
While I know they aren't exactly the biggest buildings around, that really doesn't bother me - I'm sure you'll agree that as long as I've got a roof over my head, and a phone line to connect to the internet and BoS, I'll be right.

Does anyone from the forums live in one? I've got a rough idea of the sizing of one, but just _how_ small are they?

Post pics if can. Include a scale in the image to give a rough idea how big things are. (I'm just hoping you choose a measurement larger than millimetres... )

extremely variable in size.

I just hate the openess - it's just not a social area which I wouldn't be able to handle!

But, nonetheless, if it's all you can afford, than it's all you can afford. I mean seriously, once you've got your qualifications after TAFE then you can get a good job and get a real place!

Besides. There's just something about them which I can't seem to put down. 'Studio', Digital art. Somehow small spaces and creativity coming from the same place mean something to me - call me crazy if you will.

And while I could afford more, with the above point in mind, I think that makes logical sense.

And I'm going to uni after that. So I can't get a decent pad yet.

YES. I DO need a flatmate. My mother and I are heading up to inspect it tomorrow, and assuming we like it, something's going to take place. However, I think it would be hard in finding a flatmate as:

1. I'm only staying there for a year
2. I don't think anyone from here's going to Hornsby TAFE anyway.

I dislike studio apartments and hate the thought of renting a studio apartment.

But depends what kind of family you grew out from? Big or small? If big i recommend you share a apartment / house with others. Small family, either way is good sharing can give you a shock but good experience.

Well, there's three of us in this family, but with what Biggles said, I don't know.

I don't mind so much being on my own. I'm used to it. Being an only child does that to you.

Just to give you an update:
I've potentially found a studio on my own. $195 a week. Sure, it's perhaps a little too expensive, but my parents have agreed to pay a section of it (we figured that my rates living at home for a week, anyway, would be about the same as they would give me.)

I go to inspect the apartment on Monday. If all goes well... At the moment I don't want to think about it.
